New Dynmap

Over the past year we’ve had a lot of issues with our dynmap. The most common problem is it reloading repeatedly. This has been due to an incompatibility between the plugin and our IIS webserver.

Another issue has been your builds not being re-rendered on the dynmap, sometimes for months.

So to fix these issues we’ve switched the webserver that dynmap loads from and we’ve reconfigured how dynmap decides when to re-render your builds. We also increased the image quality by using 32 to 64 pixels to represent each block instead of the 4 pixels we were using previously.

Below is the cubic view of the map showing this increase in image quality

Of course the flat view is still present and has also seen a vast improvement in image quality as seen below.

At the moment the map is still rendering and it will be a few days until our entire survival map is viewable in this way but you can already see a vast improvement in visual quality with what is available right now.

The Halloween Shop has arrived!

Several times a year we have these shops pop up at spawn which offer players a way to exchange four units of a temporary currency that they obtain by playing our Easter Eggs for unique decorative heads.

In the past we’ve done it for Easter, Valentines Day and Christmas and we thought it would be a great idea to do it for Halloween too, especially with the current Halloween themed build contest this will be a great way for you all to get some decorations for your builds.

So the currency this year is a Happy Carved Pumpkin head which you can obtain by playing High (50% drop rate) and Very High (100% drop rate) rated Easter Eggs.

Remember to quickly access eggs you can use our /eggs menu which does support searching. So for example if you only like parkour eggs you can type /eggs parkour to only see those types of eggs.

We hope you all have fun with this event it will run until the morning after Halloween on November 1st.

I’d like to thank <3 Ricksterm for creating this event and doing the work which included making the temporary Halloween head shop at spawn and finding an appropriate head for the currency.

Halloween Build Contest!

We hope you all had fun with our previous build contest last month, we were so impressed by the entries that multiple builds were imported into the spawn where they will remain indefinitely. You should all be proud!

This month we’re doing only one build contest but it’s a big one, Halloween themed and with our largest prize pool to date. Not only are we offering more games but the 1st 2nd and 3rd place winners get to select two games each from the titles available.

So the build theme is of course Halloween, you are free to build anything you want as-long as it has some connection to Halloween.

To enter simply head on over to /warp contest get yourself a plot by pushing the button on the right of the contest board and build your best Halloween themed build!

The games we’re offering to be won are Contagion, Rage, Bioshock, FEAR 1, 2 and 3, Stalker Clear Sky, Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl and Slain: Back from Hell!

Bioshock and Slain: Back from Hell are Windows + Mac compatible while all other games are Windows only.

This contest runs from October 15th to October 25th and is open to all players to participate in on our Survival server.

New workaround for Ghost Blocks

When mining using a very fast pickaxe you may have noticed some blocks don’t get mined but they turn invisible. We added a fix for this last year where you can type /ghost <radius> to make these blocks re-appear.

Today we’ve added a second fix called /autoghost where once you type this command the ghost feature will be on automatically and you should not encounter any more “ghost” blocks.

The reason we’ve not enabled this feature by default is it does use more bandwidth so for our players on poor internet connections you may not want it enabled permanently.

Code Improvement

Over the past several months you may have all noticed that a lot of features on the server have not been working correctly. Things such as:

  • PM System freezing and delays when sending messages
  • Delays when using /search
  • Delays when using the warehouse (/get, /store)
  • Egg entrances not teleporting you
  • Issues with /sell

And many other issues. All of these problems were related to our custom code bridge which is a piece of software we use to interface our custom code with our game servers.

Well I’m happy to announce that <3 AdrianL11 our Java developer and one of our three Administrators was able to rewrite the code bridge on the 8th of October and since then we have had no more issues with any of our custom software. Which means there has been no more freezing or delays when using any commands.

I’m incredibly grateful to Adrian for this hard work and I know you all will be too once you try some of our custom stuff once again.
