Yesterday we deactivated a few things in our quest to track down performance issues. You may have noticed recently that the server has been incredibly laggy since we upgraded to 1.12/1.12.1.
We’ve found the cause is mostly Craftbook. The problem is Craftbook is not unloading things when players vacate an area so if you have a complex farm setup that makes heavy use of Craftbook mechanics or integrated circuits they never become unloaded and keep eating up resources.
Due to this we’ve found the performance of the server dropping down as low as 4 TPS when it’s meant to be 20 TPS at all times. This huge drop makes many things on the server not work like eating food, killing mobs and it makes mining very frustrating as blocks keep re-appearing after being mined away.
So we have started to deactivate some of the more intensive parts of Craftbook, we announced earlier in the week that we’ve disabled collectors, we have now also disabled pushers and crushers.
We’ve also been tracking down the cause of the random server crashing. To try and fix that we’ve been removing plugins that are throwing a lot of errors in our game console, one of which is ItemSlotMachine which is what powers our Casino. We do not know if this plugin will be making a return we’re still evaluating things.
And finally we’ve removed a plugin which allowed you to store things in bookcases. It had a 2% impact on tickrate which is quite high for such a basic plugin (even Towny only uses 0.14%) so we’ve removed it to help increase performance.
Thanks for reading, we know this is frustrating for people who’ve invested time into the farms that use crushers and collectors but the performance of the server is more important and until these bugs are fixed we’re going to be leaving these mechanics turned off.

We’ve identified some serious performance problems with Ranged Collectors so we have disabled them temporarily until we can figure out a solution.
And due to various performance and stability issues we’ve had over the past several days we are extending the current build contest by 1 day.
Just a quick note, the server has updated to the new version of Minecraft which was released today by Mojang. This update doesn’t contain any new features it’s merely a minor bug fixing update.
You will need to update your game to be able to connect to our server. Thanks.
