A lot of stuff has happened recently so I thought it would be a good idea to do a general post.
Recently there were some Network Attacks on WinMX performed by KM in protest of things WinMXWorld were doing. Our Chat Room on the WinMX Peer Network remained mostly unaffected by the network attacks due to our significant allotment of upstream bandwidth. The Denial of Service attack that the whole network suffered did not rise high enough to take our room down. We felt very little disruption to our services even when users were unable to locate the room on the Room List as our Static IP address enabled users to fall back on their Favourite links in their Client.
Post-Attack the room has been doing really well. The numbers have been strong (70+ Users) with lots of activity all through the day like normal.
I’d also like to touch on the Earthquake in Japan today. As many of you are aware Japanese users make up a substantial part of the WinMX network and today they went through their worst earthquake since records began. Soon after the Earthquake they were hit by a tsunami and the recovery efforts are expected to continue for weeks if not months. Many people have lost their lives in this tragedy. We hope as many people as possible will be saved and that their recovery efforts will not be impeded by more disasters.
Thank you for reading.
