Apologies for downtime

Posted by on Jun 16, 2017 | 0 comments

The server as of this post is back online. It was down for 8 hours due to an internet fault. It went offline sometime around 1:40am last night and I was able to bring it back online around 9:45am this morning.

The server itself is completely fine, it was just an internet issue caused by our service provider.

Minor updates

Posted by on Jun 8, 2017 | 0 comments

I have three minor updates to talk with you today.

We now support both 1.11.2 and 1.12 clients on our server

Please note this does NOT mean we have updated to 1.12 it simply means we will be allowing players who have upgraded their game client to v1.12 to connect to our server which will still be running version 1.11.2.

We still fully intend to update to v1.12 (for realsies) as soon as we’re able to do so but until then this will be a stop-gap measure allowing players who’ve already upgraded their game to continue to play.

We have added a new current events message to our login news system

When you login to our game you may have seen that recent posts from our home page are automatically displayed to you. We have expanded on this by now also displaying any current events we are holding beneath these news messages.

So for example right now we’re holding a DC Comics Build Contest and so when you login you will be notified of that.

This feature was requested by <3 iNook.

We have added a calculator to the game

A new command /calc or /calculator has been added which allows you to do mathematical equations in-game to assist you with building. It does support some complex math functions but also all of the basics. For example you can do /calc 2+2 to get the answer which is 4. But you can also do more complicated things like /calc 2+2/5*10 and still get a correct answer too.

We know that many of you like to meticulously plan out your builds and being able to quickly multiply and divide is very handy.

This feature was requested by <3 ModernPromethea

That’s all for this update, happy crafting.

New Arena Gamemode!

Posted by on Jun 4, 2017 | 0 comments

Today we’re introducing a new game mode to the Arena (/warp arena) we introduced a couple of weeks ago. It’s a Mob Wave Survival mode with single and multiplayer support featuring 20 waves of intense action.

At every five waves you’ll have the opportunity to cash out some rewards (xp, money) and leave the arena or stay and fight on for the ultimate prize, a unique card. If you die before cashing out or beating the Mob Arena’s final boss then you leave with nothing.

The new Mob Arena mode features many unique mobs created by <3 iNook who is also the creator of the Arena game code that all of the games made so far use.

Please mail iNook if you discover any bugs with the new Mob Arena or any of the other Arena games. And yes that is the card you’ll receive for beating this new Arena game mode but we’re not going to tell you exactly what it does just yet.

Smelly Barry Announcement

Posted by on Jun 3, 2017 | 0 comments

Seen as the first 10 Black Market Pickaxes sold out so quickly I’ve decided to make a further five pickaxes available.

Sure half the sweat shop workers have died making the first 10 but with half the work force we can make half as many more pickaxes. Simple math!

This is it though once these are sold they’re all gone so get em while you can. Oh and my next shipment of illicit goods will be coming in soon so look out for that!

Smelly Barry’s Black Market Pickaxe now on sale!

Posted by on Jun 2, 2017 | 0 comments

Today we’re introducing a new .. ahem knock off item by Smelly Barry and his Sweat Shop. It’s a .. well lets have Smelly Barry explain.

Quite simple really, Hephaetus security aint’ all its cracked up to be. We snuck in there, photocopied the designs and now we’re releasing improved versions with mending.

But we don’t need no obsidian or diamonds, just cold hard cash thank you very much. I mean we are plundering pirates after all!

Well we don’t condone his methods but we cannot argue with the results, and due to some contractual obligations we are required to offer Smelly Barry a sell area pride and place on our Admin Shop which is exactly what we have done.

You can purchase your own Black Market Pickaxe here on our admin shop. But be quick he’s only making ten of them.

Minecraft 1.12 releasing on Friday

Posted by on May 30, 2017 | 0 comments

Mojang has announced that Minecraft version 1.12 will be released this friday. So lets just do a quick FAQ.

Will you be updating to v1.12?
Yes we will.

When we upgrade will the server map be wiped?
No, we never wipe the map. We have had the same map since April 2012 and there is no reason for us to wipe it. We will be increasing the map border radius by 1,000 blocks though so you will have even more land to explore.

When will you be updating?
We do not know yet, we have to wait for the server software to become available and then we must test all of our plugins to make sure they work and either fix the ones that don’t work or find / create replacements.

Can we still play on RENMX after v1.12 comes out?
Yes, simply set your game to use version 1.11.2 in the official minecraft launcher and you’ll be able to connect to our servers like always. There will be a news post made once we have upgraded to v1.12.

Seriously though, how long is it going to take to upgrade to v1.12?
We really do not know. It all depends on what breaks and how difficult it is to fix what breaks. We will begin testing immediately upon 1.12’s release and will try to be upgraded as soon as possible.

New Feature: Command Assist

Posted by on May 21, 2017 |

Today I have written and launched a new feature which I am calling Command Assist. It’s a really simple feature that I’m sure will improve all of your lives when playing on our server.

Put simply it’s an in-game searching system for commands. If you need to know how to kick a player from your town you just type /help kick or /help town. If you need to know how to bet you can type /help bet as I did in the screenshot below.

It works by searching for what you’ve specified in both the command itself and the explanation text accompanying the command meaning you can be pretty liberal with your search query and get back a relevant command.

It supports both user commands and staff commands, only staff will see commands relevant to their staff rank of course. It also features the ability to click on any command in the search results to have it inputted directly into your chat bar.

This is a new feature so I’m sure some of the commands will need to be re-written or generalised so they come up better within the Command Assist feature.

I hope you all like the new feature I’m sure it will save many of us a lot of time.

New Game Arena

Posted by on May 18, 2017 |

Almost a year ago <3 Ricksterm built an Arena at spawn (/warp arena) which we intended to program many games into. However as with many big projects it got sidelined while we concentrated on other parts of the server like the introduction of the TLS playable content, Warehouse and rewrite of our Admin Control Panel.

But I’m pleased to announce the latest version of the Arena. This has been a group effort between <3 iNook, <3 Ricksterm and <3 Pri to build multiple games into the Arena at spawn. It has taken a lot of time and effort but it’s ready and this is only the start.

We’ve launched it with three game modes across 8 maps. That’s PVP with 6 maps alongside Spleef and TNT Run with 1 map each. Below is a little slide show showing these first launch maps.

This new arena platform has many other game types planned these are just the three launch titles. We have the capacity to make any number of games and maps for each game type.

This new upgraded arena does have a lot of custom logic built in with no player setup needed beyond choosing which game to play.

Just click one button and the chosen game begins, players outside of the Arena are then invited to join with a single click. We’ve even added a simple opt-out button for players who do not want to be bombarded with Arena game requests.

The Arena is so smart that it even enables your personal PVP mode setting when you enter a PVP game and re-enables your fly mode after the game you’re playing completes (only if you have the ability to fly of course!) making it much faster to accept an invite to a game without needing to type any commands.

As noted at the start to get to the arena simply type /warp arena we hope you all have a great time playing in the new Arena, we’re fully committed to adding more game modes and more maps over the next several months.

In-game /search improvements

Posted by on May 16, 2017 |

Today we’ve improved the search system quite significantly. Here is a quick rundown of the changes.

  1. Results load 10x faster than before. (0.25 secs for a full result down from 2.4 secs)
  2. Colours have been changed for buy/sell in the shop results to be more clear
  3. A hover event has been added for buying and selling when you mouse over them
    • This hover event shows prices for various quantities
    • It also shows you how much of this item is in your inventory and warehouse

Here is an image showing all the new features added to /search today.

We hope you like these changes, I’m sure you will all find them very useful.

Temporary Tree Lopping added to the Admin Shop

Posted by on May 14, 2017 |

Last year we added a Tree Lopping card to the game, it gives you the ability to fell an entire tree with a single hit from an axe and today we’ve added it as a purchasable shop ability.

The difference is the shop ability lasts 24 hours instead of the 4 hours the card features and you can purchase it any time you want without needing to first find the card.

You can purchase this ability at the web based shop or in-game with /search temp lopping.

This item also allows investments which is a great way for players to earn some extra cash.

Admin Shop Selling Improvements

Posted by on May 13, 2017 |

Today there has been some significant upgrades to the new Admin Shop Selling feature introduced yesterday. Firstly you can now sell almost any item that the shop sells. The only exceptions are Abilities, Spawners, Staff Heads and Mob Eggs.

We’ve also added the ability to sell directly from your warehouse. This works automatically if the item[s] you’re selling are not found within your main inventory.

To compliment the warehouse feature we have added a little display beneath the sell buttons that shows you how much of an item you have in your Inventory and Warehouse. There is a screenshot below showing that.

We’ve also added new icons to the prices listed on all items, you’ll find a down arrow for items that only allow you to purchase and both a down and up arrow for items that allow you to both buy and sell.

We have also made it so now when you open the popover window to make purchases or sales the window will not close automatically when you click. This will allow you to quickly make multiple purchases of an item.

You can also open multiple popover windows for different items simultaneously allowing you to compare stats. To close all open popovers simply click somewhere outside of one of the popovers and they will all close.

And finally we have today integrated the selling feature into the /search function. So now when you search for items if the shop lets you sell that item to it, you can do it straight from /search in-game.

We hope you like these changes, more improvements are coming!

Admin Shop Selling

Posted by on May 12, 2017 |

For a long time our Admin shop has only supported the ability for you to buy items. But today we’ve enabled the ability for you to sell items to it too!

When you click on an item like in the screenshot above you’ll now see some red buttons which facilitate selling. The prices fluctuate just like when items are purchased meaning it fully integrates with our shop.

At the moment we’re only facilitating selling on above ground items and decorative items but we will be extending it to other items after the initial testing phase is over. To help you identify sell-able items we’ve added a tiny dollar sign to the price as shown below.

The code for this feature is written the same way as our buying code meaning we can easily adapt this feature to work in-game with the /search command which we will do some time in the future.

We hope you like this feature, please do try it out!
